San Blas Panama Cabins We are pleased to say that we can offer you a choice of two unique San Blas Island locations in Panama.
Our Dolphin Island Lodge has entertained guests from many continents since construction of its first cabanas 18 years ago and, naturally, we have also‘ moved with the times’. The more recent structures have been built with the added comfort and enjoyment of our guests in mind, while preserving their characteristic palm roofed Kuna architectural expression. This lodge is minutes away from the traditional island community of Achutupu. It is just three years since we completed, our other eco-lodge, Akwadup Lodge. Although in traditional exterior design, it differs from Dolphin Island Lodge in that its seven cabanas are built over the ocean at water’s edge, and linked to the shore line. Its modern and ’up-scale’ facilities set it apart from typical accommodation in Kuna Yala. Uaguinega derives from the Kuna language, where Uagui means dolphin and Nega means house. Together, therefore, it means “The House of the Dolphin.” During certain times of the year you can catch a sight of dolphins, and with some you luck you might be able to admire them. This ecotourism hotel is located in front of the Achutupu Island in the Kuna Yala Comarca¹. This private island is located at approximately 50 minute flight distance from Panama City, in the Republic of Panama.
